Mirror Lake State Park Campground Review

Review of Mirror Lake State Park in Lake Delton, Wisconsin

October 2009 – 1 Night

The park atmosphere is very nice. The park is very large with 3 main camping areas. There are more non-electric sites than there are sites with electricity. We stayed on site 138, which had electricity. The park is fully wooded with some nice terrain. It really was a nice place to stay.

Campsite Spacing

Our campsite had fantastic spacing. On average as we drove around the park it seemed that most sites had very nice spacing between them and some had wooded areas between sites.

Campsite Quality

Most Campsites were dirt or gravel back-in. Ours was fairly level and I did not need any leveling blocks. Our campsite had a fire ring, picnic table, lantern hanger and tent pad. Our site was surrounded by woods and very private. Even though it rained the night we got there, our site did not turn into mud at all.

There are a variety of hiking trails throughout the park, and given the terrain of the park are probably quite nice. We were only there for 1 night as we were passing through, so we did not get a chance to try any of the hikes.

There is a very nice lake with boat, canoe and kayak rentals. There is also a beach area for swimming.

We did not do any fishing but the lake is stocked with a variety of fish.

Our site was very large with plenty of area for kids to play and run around. The various loops in the park also would lend nicely to short bike rides with small kids. There is a beach area for swimming at one of the day use areas along with playground equipment for the kids.

Overall Comments

Overall this seemed like a very nice park that we would like to make a return visit to for a long weekend. We may plan a long weekend here this summer or in the early fall. Based on our 1 night, I would recommend it as a place to stay. It is about a 4 hour drive for us and I believe it would be worth us driving back up for a 3 or 4 day weekend. We stayed here on our way to the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
