Review of Lake Superior Provincial Park – Rabbit Blanket Campground in Wawa, Ontario, Canada
August 2015 – 2 Nights
This is an all wooded campground with gravel roads. The RV section has a really nice gravel road, while the tent section is a little rougher. It is a nice atmosphere right on a small lake. Some of the sites actually overlook the lake.
Campsite spacing is really good throughout the entire park. The sites all have a wooded and / or brushy natural barrier as well between them to add to the privacy.
Campsite quality is above average, but many sites could be challenging for very big rigs. Shore power outlets are shared between 2 sites and are placed by the road, so bring an extension cord. We have 50ft of cord and had to cheat our trailer all the way off the gravel pad onto the grassy portion of the site to get our cord to reach. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring.
There are a couple of trails that lead out right from the campground and the surrounding Lake Superior Provincial Park is full of trails within a short drive.
Canoe rentals are available from the park office.
I have to assume that fishing is good in the small lakes, but we did not do any fishing.
There is no playground equipment, so the park is not really a “kids” park. The shorter hike out of the park was fairly rocky for smaller kids to hike and had a boulder hopping creek crossing in it.
It is a nice little campground to stop at for a couple nights on your way through to do some hiking and check out the local sites or if you would like to do some canoeing on the small lakes and don’t mind a couple of portages.
