Charles A. Lindbergh State Park Campground Review

Review of Charles A. Lindbergh State Park in Little Falls, Minnesota

April 2015 – 2 Nights

I liked this park.  It has a nice, small town atmosphere and with the history of Charles Lindbergh adds a nice touch to the park.  The campground loops are smaller, but surrounded by trees.  There is a little day-use area with some swings and a slide.

Campsite Spacing

Campsites all have adequate spacing with some natural forest barrier between them.  They are not necessarily spread out a bunch, but you definitely don’t feel like you are on top of each other.

Campsite Quality

The sites are mostly gravel and all are back-in RV sites.  The rustic loop is a separate loop and are also mostly gravel.  They are mixed on the leveling and most sites appear to need some sort of leveling.  There are a few sites that might be tough to get in and out of, depending on the size of your RV.  There were three in particular that I probably would not attempt to get into.

There is some really nice, short, family hiking to do here that is quite peaceful.  There are interpretive signs throughout the park that explain some of the Lindbergh history and I enjoyed going through them with the kids.  We hiked out to a field that was identified as the landing spot used when Charles flew the “Jenny” to their summer home here.

The park is right across the street from the Mississippi River and there is a boat landing just down the road.

There is no fishing in the park, but we did see people fishing down by the boat landing.

This was a nice little park to take your family to.  There was not a playground within the campground loop itself, but the loops were quite nice for the kids to ride their bikes around and the trails were really nice for some easy family hiking.

Overall Comments

I really liked this park and will probably go back again.  The Lindbergh house and museum was not open yet for the season and I think that would be neat to see.  I think this park is worth traveling a couple hours to spend the weekend at, for sure.
