Review of Angostura Recreation Area Campground in Angostura, South Dakota
March 2014 – 1 Night
There are multiple campground loops in the park that surround a nice size lake. We stayed in the first campground loop that when down the hill and was surrounded by tall pines. It was a very nice atmosphere, especially us being the only people in the park.
Campsite Spacing and Quality
Campsites were fairly close together, but have nice paved back-in pads with picnic tables and fire rings with cooking grates. The sites were nestled amongst tall pines with grass.
Hiking and Biking Trails
There is a path that runs along the side of the lake and connects the campgrounds together.
The campgrounds are along a really nice size lake. The lake is great for all kinds of water sports with a marina and boat slips.
The lake is stocked with a variety of fish.
There are nice beach areas along most of the campground shoreline.
Really nice park for the kids. There is nice play equipment throughout the park for the kids to use. The nice beaches and path along the water make it that much better. It really looks like a nice family park.
We only stayed here for 1 night, as we were passing through. We had enough time for the kids to play at the park and ride their bikes. We were the only people in the campground that night and it was awesome. I think it would be a different atmosphere if the park was full. With the campground being empty, it was one of the most peaceful camping nights we’ve had with our campfire and nestled in the tall pines.
